STORY: Dhayalan (Samuthirakani) is a friendly father who is convincing that scoring high mark is not the only purpose if a child’s life. According to him a father is one who lets his children think independently, encourage their talents, guide them about good and bad. Singaperumal (Thambi Ramiah) who is directly opposite to him is a self-appointed decision maker of anything and everything in his son’s life. Nadunilaiyan (Namo Narayana) is neither too strict nor in a position to guide his son.

What happens to the life of the sons of these father is the film all about.

REVIEW: The story shows how parents brings up their children and its consequences on their life and future.

Samuthirakani plays the role of lovable encouraging father while the role played by Thambi Ramiah is a strict father. He forces his son to achieve the things that he could not in his life. Appa is more or less on the same lines as ‘Sattai’ but this one has been made without any commercial compromises. All the kids have done a great job.

The first half talks about how to groom a child and the second half get a little wavery as it diverts from parenthood issues. The movie definitely has some memorable moments. Even though Appa is a 2 hour film, its feels like much longer film.

The movie has only one song which comes in a montage. Ilayaraaja’s music is very functional. Cinematography done by Richard Nathan are appealing.

Appa gives you a great degree of satisfaction but we have seen similar movies and Appa needs something different to stand out rest.
