Mayanadhi is beautiful and real love story of two youngsters. This film directed by Aashiq Abu. Starring Tovino Thomas and Aishwarya Lekshmi, the film is a window that opens to the life of Mathew aka Mathan (Tovino) and Aparna (Aishwarya). The film moves forward in two narratives, the raw and emotional love story, and an investigation. This film feels good.

Story
Aparna(Aiswarya) is an engineering drop-out who is currently doing small advertisements, but aspires to be a leading actress. Mathan(Tovino) was her senior in college, and they were very close to each other. Their relationship had hit a dead end, but things take a U-turn when a trouble-driven Mathan comes to Kochi and tries to win her back. Mathen is on the run after he gets involved in a crime – the murder of a policeman. In his bid to es...

Actors Performance
Tovino does perform brilliantly as Mathen, who is undoubtedly one of the best characters he has play. Aishwarya Lekshmi is the backbone of the movie with a strong performance. She easily portrays every emotion convincingly and is bound to become the industry's pride. Harish Uthaman and Ilavarasu as the investigative officers do justice to their roles while Lijo Jose Pellissery, Soubin Shahir, Basil Joseph and Aparna Balamurali entertain in cameo roles.

Technically

Mayanadhi is easily Aashiq Abu's best work till date. Writers Syam Pushkaran and Dileesh Nair have succeeded in striking the right chords with minimal dialogues, which set a special mood for the film. Rex Vijayan's songs and background score play a pivotal role in giving the movie it's true feelings.  Jayesh Mohan's visuals and Saiju Sreedharan's editing have contributed the essential pace for the movie.

Audience Reviews

Rajoy Alfes
The highlight of the movie is the romance between Tovino and Aiswarya Lakshmi. It has been conceived with great originality and enacted superbly by the duo. But the kissing scene could have been avoided as, unlike 'Chappakurisu', it does not serve any purpose. Such Hollywoodization will only restrain good talents from taking up film acting as a career. The broader storyline in which the romance is placed also cannot be approved of. What if the protectors of law become its violators?
