The much awaited Velaikkaran movie directed by Mohan Raja, starring Sivakarthikeyan, Nayanthara and Fahadh Faasil among others. The film has music scored by Anirudh Ravichander. This movie includes so many ‘message dialogues’ that the surplus erodes our emotional investment. Velaikkaran is a film that has its heart in the right place.

Story

Arivu hails from a slum area and he is one such responsible youth, who wants to focus on the upliftment of his fellow beings and he works hard for the same. One day, he lands up with a marketing job in a top company but later, he comes to know about the hazardous product that it delivers. He takes up a mission to fight such malpractices.

Actors Performance

Velaikkaran truly belongs to Sivakarthikeyan who has delivered his best yet. The actor has truly had a transformation. Several moments of the film work because of Sivakarthikeyan’s earnestness and sincerity on-screen. Fahadh Faasil’s role doesn’t spring any surprises but the actor makes it work well. Also, his Tamil diction is quite clean. Nayanathara appears as Mrinalini, the lady-love of Arivu. Well, we get to see more of her, only in the first half of the movie and that might turn out to be a bit of disappointment for her fans. But still, she has done her part to perfection, as usual. Sneha gets a better deal with a brief but vital role in the story.

Technically

Mohan Raja added the commercial elements in the right portions and the best part is that they don't over-weigh or overrule the exact soul of the movie.  Music composer Anirudh Ravichander does a remarkable job with the songs as always. Due credits to Ramji for setting up the right frames for the film, which are realistic and grandeur at the same time. Editing by Rubens is decent.  Special mention to the art department headed by T Muthuraj.
